Once again the Washington press corps, otherwise known as President Obama's campaign staff, gathered for their annual dinner. The dinner, which usually consists of an M.C. poking fun at the sitting president and Washington bigwigs, followed by the president poking fun at himself, took on a new tone. Or should I say an old tone.
The party that accused Republicans of being insensitive and vicious for criticizing President Clinton's sexcapades, went on the attack. Wanda Sykes wished Rush Limbaugh's kidneys would fail, called him a 9/11 terrorist and then insulted Cindy McCain. President Obama made light of the White House's photo session turned terrorist scare over New York City by saying he grounded his daughters for taking a ride on Air Force One. To be fair, Gibbs did say 9/11 comments shouldn't be used for comedy. I wonder if he found the presidents reference to the NYC fly over humorous?
Since the president seemed to enjoy hearing Rush Limbaugh called a terrorist and laughed as Sykes wish him death, I supposed the new rule for comedy is "As long as it's not about us". Well the gauntlet is down so I will do my best to make fun of the opposition. Here's the rebuttal:
So nice to see so many politician here. I am sure Senator Kennedy crossed a few bridges to make it tonight. If you can't find him in this star studded crowd just turn out the lights. He's the guy glowing...and it's not just his nose anymore.
Before I continue, since tax season is officially over I just have one question to the members of the administration, did you pay them?
The ticket price for this dinner is kind of steep and we know everyone is struggling these days, so you will all be getting a refund. Geitner said to just send the bill to the treasury.
I'm searching the crowd for John Edwards. He usually feels very comfortable around members of the media. John always loves to be in front of the camera. Or is that in front of the women behind the camera?
Speaking of cameras, the President seems to be relying more and more on teleprompters and monitors to deliver remarks. Last night Mrs. Obama couldn't sleep. The president was talking in his sleep and the light from the teleprompters kept her awake.
A year after leaving Rev. Wright's former church, the Obama's are still searching for a new one. It's so hard to find a racist, anti-white, anti-American church these days.
Speaker Pelosi couldn't make it tonight. She is working on yet another recovery and reconstruction plan. It seems the last one didn't take..so it's back to the plastic surgeon. One more face lift and she won't be able to bang her gavel without doing a somersault.
Vice-President Biden was supposed to be here tonight. We told him we would send him an e-mail with the directions. Poor guy is still waiting for the e-mailman to deliver it.
And so my fellow Americans, it seems we don't have to be "sensitive" with our humor anymore...thank God! Let Obama and the Democrats change political correctness to suit themselves. It just shows that sensitivity and correctness were just a tool of the left to paint their opposition as just being mean. Who's being mean now?
