Obamaspeak and the New National Malaise

On the heals of his speech to Kalamazoo high school seniors extolling the virtues of taking responsibility and not blaming others, President Obama headed to the gulf of Mexico for yet another photo-op and a chance to "show the American people that" his "administration is firmly in control of the situation". Which has been followed by his constant attack on BP for not plugging the hole. I'm not quite sure what he is "firmly in control" of, but it's not capping the well. As the President declares gulf shrimp and other seafood safe to eat while walking along a sludge soaked beach, one can already see the Saturday Night Live sketch of him eating a oil soaked shrimp cocktail. Obama follows up this PR blitz with a speech from the oval office, telling the American people that BP "will pay" for this. I'm sure he is hoping it won't cut into their donations to his re-election campaign.

Obama's lack of comprehension of his own speeches seems to be the catalyst of his plunging poll numbers. I guess we can "blame Bush" for this. By comparison, you may not have agreed with everything President Bush said, but you know he stood behind his words and meant what he said.

The man who supposedly won the White House because of his new ideas and speaking skills, is now unable to inspire the American people to get the economy moving because the actions of he and his party display a anti-capitalist arrogance and reckless spending of tax-payer dollars.

When President Obama speaks, we hear echos of Jimmy Carter trying to feign a camaraderie with the average American. America needs inspiration. What we are getting is a single party dictatorship and a shackling of government control. Growth can only happen when there is a freedom to do so. Government mandated growth is a Utopian belief that has never succeeded. And so we have no private sector job growth. No new housing. And the start of our second National Malaise.

Presidency for Dummies

The oil in the gulf keeps flowing and Obama assures us his administration has been in control of the situation from day one. It has now been over forty days. When attempts to stop the oil flow fails, Obama claims BP is in control. Hmmmmm.

The trillion dollar debt keeps growing, yet we still have record unemployment and the Democrats ceremonious commitment to a "pay-as-you-go" policy has proven to be just a catch phrase.

President Obama is sending the National Guard to the U.S./Mexican border. But they aren't going there to enforce federal immigration laws. Apparently they are just going for the photo op.

...and Obama takes another vacation...and plays another round of golf. The President seems to be from that same mentality so prevalent in our society, the people who never take personal responsibility and want all of the glory while spending all of their energy avoiding the hard work.

Barry has always been handed his successes and never had to earn them. Have we ever read of any of his accomplishments? No. Do we have any examples of his pre-presidency leadership? No. Like the Nobel prize, he was given all the accolades for a job he has yet to do. But he speaks well. At least when the teleprompter is working.

Every time a presidential candidate gets the youth of this country out to vote in record numbers, be prepared for a bumper sticker being elected. My experience tells me that experienced leadership counts, not "Kennedy-esqe" images or speeches prepared by a staff of writers. When choosing a leader of the free world, we should not be sold by slogans and pipe dreams of a Utopian society, we should scrutinize the preparedness of the person to handle the unexpected crisis. Candidate Obama never had a 3 A.M. phone call situation to tackle. And apparently, as President, he lets them go to voice-mail.
