Mapping out our Future

In assessing the road forward, we must look at the indicators of the "change" that the President-elect is bringing and size up those who will be "re-building" America.
The stock market reaction to Obama's victory was quite contradictory to picture of strength and hope of economic recovery painted by the media. That wind at Obama's back seems to have simply swirled around Grant park and never made it to Wall street. The worst reaction to an election on record. Keep an eye on the job market. If there is confidence in Obama's plans we should see at least a slight rise in available jobs. Of course we ask ourselves; why would a company hire anyone now when they can get a $3,000 credit from President Obama? They will need this to help offset the tax increases on business and mandatory full health care coverage.
The war (or should I say peace) in Iraq is doing very well. I will be interested to see if Obama lives up to his pledge to bring our troops home immediately. How fast will he abandon a winning cause to bring home hundreds of thousands of men and women who voted against him and who will be looking for jobs and home loans in a market that isn't providing either right now?
Remember where gas prices are right now. $2 a gallon. When the Dems go after the 'big oil' companies you can sure bet that will change. Of course they won't mind because higher gas prices will push their environmental extremists agenda. Anyone wondering why the auto industry is having such a hard time selling those little hybrids but not trucks? Because nobody really wants them. Any big three bailout is going to come at the price of forcing us to drive cars that we don't want to drive. Or buy!
I am trying to figure out how a congress with the lowest approval rating on record could pick up so many seats. As I said yesterday, I believe it is the national knee jerk reaction to the economy. This means that they are very vulnerable. Especially Nancy Pelosi. She is now target #1. Her accountability is to her liberal congressional seat. Obama is going to have to restrain himself from going too far left unless he wants to re-live the reaction to the first two years of the Clinton administration. These two mega-ego's will surely be going head to head. Our best bet is to be sure that Pelosi stays in her position as long as the Dems control congress. But we need to make sure that she remains damaged goods. Divide and conquer will work really well with Obama and Pelosi.
Teddy Kennedy is 'drafting' a national health care plan. This is scary! But worse is that he knows is time is running out on this planet and apparently he wants to leave this world as a full fledged socialist. No doubt his plan will be passed as he lies on his deathbed or as a memorial. I wouldn't be in too much of a hurry to meet my maker if I was Teddy. I am sure Mary Jo Kopechne will be there with the Lord as He passes judgement.
We can't forget the minor players on the national stage. Hillary Clinton is now stuck in the Senate. If she is smart she will take on New York Governor David Patterson in the next election. This would be her only chance should the Obama administration fail miserably. The lack of executive experience could be used as a reason. Never count the ruthless Hillary as out. And Bill can never stay out of the spotlight.
Joe Biden will always be good for a laugh...or gaff. No doubt the next four years will highlight his lack of brains and Obama's bad judgement in picking him.
So my friends, I hope the fog of the leftist media has cleared for you. You can see winnable battles are coming. The road ahead is not so intimidating. The special interest groups that helped get Obama elected are already calling for paybacks. The opposition is going to give us quite a bit of entertainment in the coming months. We get to sit back and take a breather for a while. As we have learned in the past, we may prefer to be the party in power, but it is much more fun playing offense then defense. Viva la Resistance!
